How to choose Paint Protection Film

PPF is an easy way to keep your car looking its best. Clear film protects clear coat from scratches, chips, and more. When all the salt and sand go flying this winter, you can rest easy knowing they’re not chipping and scratching your paint. In other way, it enhances gloss and makes your looks better.

There are a few different types of PPF out there. The differences are important, because not all films have the same properties.

For example, only some PPF options are self-healing, which means some dont rebound after getting hit with that rock. Films also come in a few different finishes. Clear is the most common, but you can also find matte and satin finishes as well. There are even films with a hydrophobic topcoat.

Demand for PPF has exploded over the past few years and many different brands have appeared on the market. The thickness and clarity of the PPF material will vary. We have been trying hundreds of different brands, including popular brands like XPEL, Clif Designs, 3M and Suntek.

So, how to find out what film to install?

Our best advice is to find right installer. A reputable installer won’t compromise his name with a PPF of lesser quality. You want to do your research on the PPF you want to install on your vehicle. Make sure they are protected against cracking, yellowing and peeling. Most warranties are between 5 and 7 years and some even go up to 10 years.

How to find installer? There are at least three points that you need to put your attention to:

  • Quality work and good portfolio.
  • Are price good to be true?
  • Good feedback and reliable reputation.

The best shops get extreme measures to create sure they've a clean, well-lit environment for high quality installs. Spend some time to have a conversation with your installer and ask to see some sample of his work, in order to figure out correctly what to look forward from a complete product.
